Microsoft Windows 10 Release
We wanted to provide you and your users with some initial information about the new Windows 10 operating system. On July 29th, 2015, Microsoft will release Windows 10. Users of Windows 7 and later qualify for the free upgrade.
You may have seen a notification icon on the bottom right-hand corner of your Windows computer that looks something like this:
We do NOT recommend upgrading at this time. Our internal testing of Windows 10 has been positive, and we expect it to be a well-received, stable operating system. As with all new operating systems we feel it’s best to wait a while before upgrading, just to be safe. That will give Microsoft time to address any major issues.
Items to keep in mind for Windows 10:
- Security updates for Windows 7 and Windows 8 will be available for years to come. Windows 7 will be supported until the year 2020. Windows 8 will receive patches until 2023.
- Software updates (drivers) for devices in Windows 10 may be delayed or simply unavailable, which may cause some of your connected equipment to become inoperable.
- The free updgrade is available for a year, so there’s no rush.
